Banana Extravaganza at The London Produce Show

BanaBay is #celebratingFRESH by going all out for its second appearance at the London Produce Show, a high profile event which brings together the fruit, vegetable and flower industries.

Taking place from 3-5th June, among other things, BanaBay is supplying the bananas for the scrumptious welcome drinks at the show’s Media Masterclass held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on the Thursday afternoon.

Introducing Plantains with School of Wok

The exhibition begins on Thursday June 4th and BanaBay will be showing off its fruit range – premium quality Ecuadorian bananas and the newly available crop of plantains – on stand 324.

Later in the afternoon between 3.30 and 4.30pm BanaBay is sponsoring the Media Masterclass with chef Jeremy Pang, owner of School of Wok, who will be cooking up some Asian inspired banana and plantain recipes.

Pro presenter Ruth Graham will be giving an entertaining talk on the rise of the plantain and how to cook this exotic ingredient, which tastes a bit like a banana and a bit like a potato.

Meet Olympic hopeful, Mike Edwards

Visitors will also be hearing from Mike Edwards, BanaBay’s Brand Ambassador and Olympic hopeful high jumper with Team GB, aiming for a shot at Rio 2016. Mike will be explaining the importance of the banana in his training and nutrition programme. A source of fibre, minerals and a power packed energy boost, Mike eats around 6-8 BanaBay bananas a day to get competition-fit.

Awards finalists – in two categories

Later in the evening is the Fresh Produce Consortium’s Fresh Awards, hosted by top foodie Sue Perkins. BanaBay has been nominated for The Individual Excellence Award thanks to its very own rising star Yuchi Li, Senior Business Development Manager at BanaBay who has been building banana sales in Asia.

BanaBay is also up for The Supply Chain Excellence Award that highlights BanaBay’s signature business approach which centres on giving customers a direct sourcing agreement to ensure better business relationships, dedicated service and higher quality fruit from plantation to customer.
